Long before Smashbox Cosmetics was created, its founders, Dean and Davis Factor, were becoming legends as ambassadors of style in Los Angeles.

It began when the brothers--two very unique entrepreneurs and great-grandsons of makeup legend Max Factor--combined their talent and heritage to create Smashbox Studios in 1990. With a slew of starlets passing through the studios daily, Dean and Davis were often asked to develop makeup that met the demanding needs of a photo shoot. So the two merged their skills--Dean, a business guru with an MBA, and Davis, a leading celebrity/fashion photographer--to create Smashbox Cosmetics in 1996.

In the years that followed, our expertise in photography, fashion and beauty turned Smashbox into a hub of culture. Our studios served as the official home to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in L.A. from 2003-2008, and high-profile film and music events continue to be held here.

Today, our state-of-the-art facility is still inundated with the most sought-after photographers, artists, celebs and models. A-listers are regulars here, but more importantly, so are their makeup artists. This means we're always swapping insider tips, tricks and trends directly with the pros. Best of all? We share. We believe that knowledge truly is a beautiful thing, and ours is just too good to keep to ourselves.
